Sky+ Vs Sky+ HD

? Have you ever been frustrated with your Sky+ box messing around, Freezing, non responsive, deleting items that you don't want to delete, ? Are you paying for your Sky subscription or/and cover for breakdown more than a couple of years? I wish someone had told me about this years ago.

If you are still in your contract but your items are being deleted that you really want, (a prime example is, you've watched an item, then you delete it, only the next item also deletes). A way round this is to press the blue button whilst viewing in the Planner tab, this saves the recording, making you confirm that you are happy to delete it. I chose to save every item by pressing the blue button so I was sure that it would never delete without me confirming it. With the new HD+ box you can undelete items if you delete them mistakenly or want to see them again.

We have had Sky+ at home for over 4 years now. Last month I was so fed up with my box being non-responsive and deleting items that I was trying to save and not delete I chatted online to Sky to ask for my Sky+ box to be Freesat with no contract. Not only was I paying for the subscription, but also the insurance to cover any breakdown. I was surprised to find out that if I did do this I'd have to buy a freesat viewing card and would not be able to record anything, because of this fact I didn't consider it as an option.

Following a few minutes of chatting I was informed that I could have a free HD+ box for less than I was paying for the standard Sky+ subscription and if I did a new contract then I wouldn't need to pay for cover as it's covered for 12 months anyway. So guess what? - I went for the new contract and get a box with 5x more storage than the original Sky+ box, with a whopping 500GB of storage, plus the benefit of getting On Demand channels via the Broadband which is by the way AOL. Register your new box linked to your viewing card at Sky.com and you are up and running in no time. Plus I hasten to add, if you have a wireless sky magic eye then even though a manual says that it wont work, then I challenge this theory. The new box uses a HDMI cable - brilliant.

We have an old wireless Phillips magic eye with Scart fitting, which is about 8 years old , it's about the size of an external HDD PC drive in its casing and works perfectly. The original remotes for our old Sky+ also work well with our new Sky+HD box so we don't have to keep taking the new HD remote to bed viewing in the bedroom through the wireless Magic Eye and we don't have the expense of buying a 2nd HD+ remote. The position of the sensor is approximately 1 inch or 25mm to the left of the play record button.
